NBA Rumours: Kawhi Leonard of Clippers diagnosed with a torn meniscus
Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard has been diagnosed with a torn meniscus in his right knee, Athletics’ Shams Charania reported Wednesday.
The news came a day after the Clippers were eliminated from the playoffs. Leonard led the team with 38 points in the Game 1 win over the Phoenix Suns, and after scoring 31 points in the Game 2 loss, he missed the final three games of the Round 1 series and was out on Tuesday.
Leonard tore the ACL in the same knee during the 2021 playoffs and missed the entire 2021-22 season. He appeared in his 50 games during his 2022-23 regular season, averaging 23.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. In addition to Leonard’s absence, the Clippers were also without Paul George during their brief playoff run.

George sprained his knee on March 21 and did not play the rest of the season. He could reportedly come back later in the postseason if the Clippers progressed, but now he and Leonard are taking full offseasons to recover from their respective knee injuries.
